Mike first joined All Hands and Hearts in Pisco, Peru in 2008 and so began his journey from volunteer to Director of International Recovery. When All Hands and Hearts left Peru to respond to disasters elsewhere, Mike stayed in Pisco and helped to co-found Pisco Sin Fronteras – a volunteer-led organisation that focused on recovery efforts. His experience in Peru highlighted the importance of recovery efforts after he witnessed first-hand the need in communities long after immediate response – igniting a passion for providing support to communities in their longer-term recovery process.
Mike has a background in Business Management and for many years would use work vacations to volunteer on programs in places ranging from Haiti to the Philippines. In May 2014, he joined the staff team as Program Director of the typhoon recovery program in Leyte, Philippines – where he proved integral to the development of our fundraising and partnership model.
Today, he oversees International Recovery and brings a breadth of experience in strategic development, combined with a good dose of British humour and his passion for rebuilding with the community.
