Texas Flood Relief
July 2025 – Ongoing
Last updated: July 2025
All Hands & Hearts is actively supporting flood recovery in Kerr County, Texas. We’re helping homeowners take the first steps toward safely returning home by removing mud, debris and water-damaged materials, salvaging belongings and beginning mold sanitation. We’re also coordinating local volunteers to support their neighbors and, through Airbnb.org, providing temporary housing for displaced families during recovery.
Our Work
All Hands & Hearts mobilized a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) immediately following catastrophic flooding in Kerr County, Texas, committed to supporting response efforts where they’re needed most through trusted partnerships and targeted aid. Our teams have been working alongside the community of Center Point and surrounding areas to meet the needs of those impacted. We’ve been working closely with the Center Point Fire Department and local officials to assess damage, coordinate volunteer support and begin the labor-intensive work of cleaning out homes, making them safe for families to eventually return.
Current Activities
Our teams have been actively supporting homeowners through muck and gut work: removing waterlogged drywall, insulation, flooring and personal belongings damaged beyond repair. LA’s home was one of the first we entered. A longtime resident of Kerr County, he built his home by hand, down to every cabinet, and filled it with decades of memories alongside his wife, who he lost just last year. When the floods hit, mud, debris and water swept through the space they once shared.
Our teams stepped in to help LA take the first steps toward recovery. We’ve completed the removal of debris and damaged materials, carefully salvaging irreplaceable items along the way: his wife’s wedding dress, hand-stitched quilts and family photos preserving the fragments of life they built together. With the home cleared, we’ll soon begin mold sanitation to help ensure it’s safe for the next stage of rebuilding.
Kerr County Flood
In the early hours of July 4, 2025, intense rainfall caused rivers in central Texas, mainly the Guadalupe River, to swell up to 29 feet in only 45 minutes. While most people were still asleep ahead of a day of national celebrations, floodwaters rose into low-lying homes, businesses, and youth summer camps, catching many before they had a chance to escape.
The human toll is devastating. “The true weight of this disaster isn’t just in the damage to homes or landscapes,” shared All Hands and Hearts Chief Operating Officer, Mike Ball, from the ground. “It’s the overwhelming scale of loss, especially the loss of life, that defines the tragedy here.”
Offering Safe Emergency Housing Through Partnership
In the wake of disaster, housing becomes one of the most urgent needs. We’re grateful to be working in partnership with Airbnb.org, which is helping provide emergency housing for families who cannot safely return home.
Skylyn and her family were among those who lost nearly everything in the flood. Through our partnership with Airbnb.org, they were able to relocate into a temporary home while recovery efforts continue. Read Skylyn’s story.
