A 7.0 magnitude earthquake (originally recorded at 7.4, and then downgraded) at a depth of 20 km occurred in Mexico at 21:47 local time last night, September 7, with an epicenter approximately 15km from the city of Acapulco. The earthquake, though shallow and causing prolonged shaking, is not reported to have caused any major damage. The earthquake was felt over 230 miles away in the capital Mexico City and power outages are reported to be affecting about 1.6 million people. The team will continue to monitor news sources, local government, and coordination agencies to understand if any significant damage does get reported. The current All Hands and Hearts team in Mexico felt shaking but are all reported safe.
