Volunteer Spotlight: Ron in Houston

“Let’s go for a year”

Ron Decker has been volunteering at the Texas Hurricane Relief: Houston Recovery Program since January 2018. He had gone on several week-long disaster relief trips, but always wished he could stay longer to see the projects finish. When Hurricane Harvey hit he thought maybe this was the place. After Ron’s wife said, “Let’s go for a year,” they moved to Texas, rented an apartment, and he has been an asset to the Houston team ever since.

“Everyday I look forward to coming to work,” Ron said.
