Hurricane Tammy, a Category 1 storm, continues to hold steady while moving northeast in the Atlantic with sustained winds at 75 mph. It is expected to fluctuate in strength as it moves northeast. On Friday, the hurricane is expected to turn northwest and should become a post-tropical cyclone. No coast watches or warnings are in effect.
The seventh named hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season, Tammy made landfall Saturday on Barbados as it passed over the Caribbean Islands. Over a dozen island nations had to withstand rip currents, torrential rain and 90 mph winds. These included Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Montserrat, Saba and St. Eustatius, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Maarten, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy and the British and U.S. Virgin Islands. All Hands and Hearts will continue to monitor Hurricane Tammy and its impacts as it moves further northwest in the coming week.
