Texas Wildfires

Latest Texas Wildfires Updates

March 1, 2024 - 8:00 (EST) - Update 1

This week, three intense wildfires have been burning north of Amarillo in the Texas panhandle, predominantly in Texas and parts of Oklahoma. The Smokehouse Creek Fire, the largest blaze, has already burned nearly 1,700 square miles and is only 3% contained. These fires have destroyed homes, infrastructure, cattle and livelihoods and caused two casualties. To help protect the people of these communities, the governor of Texas has declared a disaster declaration for 60 counties. With dry air, strong winds and no rain in the forecast, the fires are expected to worsen into the weekend. All Hands and Hearts will continue monitoring the disaster’s impacts.
